Palm's homegrown nav solution for Treos

It looks like Palm was inspired by Garmin's Mobile 20 Bluetooth GPS-sportin' cradle for Treos, releasing its own variation on the theme this week. Their "GPS Navigator Smartphone Edition" includes the cradle itself along with TomTom's NAVIGATOR 6 software and US / Canadian basemaps loaded onto a 1GB SD card. Happily, the cradle is SiRFstarIII-based, giving us some confidence that the cradle is worth at least a good chunk of its $299 asking price. The kit is available immediately and should hook up pretty effortlessly with all 650 and 700-model Treos.

The GPS is in the SiRFstarIII-powered Bluetooth receiver, not the cradle.

Does anyone know if when you are using this GPS and the phone rings, will the treo alert me of the incoming call or will it go straight to voice mail? If they allow incoming calls through while using the GPS ill buy this right now.

i just bought a new treo 650 and love it. when i reviece a voicemail, there a an asterisk that flashes, does anyone know how to get to the asterisk without using the stylus and touching the screen

The phone call handling is different for PalmOS or WindowsMobile5.
On PalmOS for Treo 650 and 700p, if a phone call comes in, TomTom will allow the call to take over.
On WM5 for Treo 700w, if a phone call comes in, the call will be shown on a half screen, and TomTom will continue to run in the background. When you accept the call, TomTom will go full screen again and run in a muted state.

Hey that looks like TomTom software.
That software is excellent! I have it working on my i-mate SP5M. It's just like having one of those $600 stand-alone TomTom units in the car.
